This is incredibly relevant to my life right now. My favorite guidelines:

-Avoiding impulsive decisions about obtaining pet(s), and carefully selecting pet(s) suited to your home and lifestyle.
-Recognizing that ownership of pet(s) requires an investment of time and money.
-Keeping only the type and number of pets for which an appropriate and safe environment can be provided, including appropriate food, water, shelter, health care and companionship.

As nice as it would be to save all the animals there are limits. People need to know those limits.

Thank you for these tips! Especially during the summer months people need to know things like this. Also, an option could be to use a pet sitting service during the day while you at work. That way you know your pets are most likely in an air conditioned environment and don’t have to worry about them as much during the day.
